The Pirates making their return visit to Governors Park on a rainy Sunday weathered their trip well.

Philipsburg scored in the first inning when Drew Bryan started a 2 out rally with a single and Matt McCamley to Romine’s 2-0 offering deep to center for an RBI Double.  Josh Potter making his first start of the season went 3 strong innings facing the minimum and not allowing a runner, in his only plate appearance took the Peppers left fielder to the fence on a fly out.  Philipsburg turned to Andy Lytle to finish the game for them with only a 1 run lead, he would allow PG’s only base hit and only faced 4 over the minimum.  Pleasant gap would threaten though in the 5th when they had runners on second and third with two outs but Lytle would end the inning with a strike out.

The Pirates would also threaten earlier in the fifth when their bases loaded opportunity was halted by a Romine K of the ever dangerous McCamley.   Philipsburg would add one more run in the 6th when Derek Shaw hit a weak roller to the right side of the infield that resulted in an RBI Single.

Philipsburg (4-0) will travel to Howard Thursday and Pleasant Gap (0-3) will host the Lemont Ducks Tuesday night.
